God’s Bods: Catholic Campus Center at Washburn University
Constitution and By-laws
2022-2023
Mission Statement
The mission of the Catholic Campus Center at Washburn University is to facilitate the continued intellectual, spiritual, and moral formation of the Catholic students, faculty, and staff at Washburn University and to be witnesses through our actions to the Good News of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Vision Statement
The Catholic Campus Center at Washburn University is a Catholic campus ministry program that strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and caring community, in which students can grow spiritually, form new relationships, and deepen the understanding of their faith. By offering encouragement in worship and study, we aid in: the development of leadership skills, building of relationships with new friends, and forming of lasting memories. Through the sharing of meals and prayers, to sustain the body, mind, and spirit, we help break social barriers for a change to create a greater fellowship among new and growing friends, while supporting others in the growth and understanding of their faith. We act as models to those around us through our commitment to community and God.

They are not obligated to the duties of officer hours, or officer-specific mandatory meetings. The following are committee chair positions and their responsibilities:
Fundraising Chair:
In conjunction with the Center and under the direction of the director, the Fundraising Chair will be responsible for assisting with the planning and process of fundraising. This will involve the Breakfast Burrito fundraiser, in addition to fundraisers that the Director and Officers suggest and plan throughout the year.

E. Officer Code of Conduct
All God’s Bods Catholic Campus Center Officers will:
1. Attend Mass at the Center and be present at all Center events unless extenuating circumstances prevent otherwise. These circumstances will be communicated to the President or the Director.
2. Commit one hour per week to be in the Center to work on projects and be available to members. Office hours are picked at the beginning of the semester, an hour dedicated to core officer specific duties. Particular week-by-week duties are decided at the end of each meeting.
3. Assist in achieving and maintaining any requirement set forth by WSGA in order to be considered a student organization in good standing.
4. Aid in planning and completing the fundraiser project.
F. General Operating Procedures
1. The President of God’s Bods should call to meeting all officers once a week, preferably before the Mass times on Sunday night at the Center in order to have quick access to the director, chaplain, and faculty advisor. Agendas should be sent out to all involved parties before the time of the meeting in order for revisions.
2. The treasurer and the chairperson of an event seeking funding will be in charge of funding requests that go before the Washburn Student Government Association, and will be responsible for all reports and paperwork that need to be completed to obtain funding regarding each project. They should keep in communication with the director as well as the bookkeeper in order to confirm the funding process is completed.
3. Each member of the core officer group as well as any ongoing chairpersons will be responsible for giving a report at each officer meeting in order to promote inter-organizational communication and the prevention of any officer taking upon a load that is too heavy for him/her. Each officer should feel comfortable asking for assistance from the team – and the team should reciprocate.
4. Members of the God’s Bods student organization who apply to be on the director staff of Delectus (a yearly, student-led retreat) shall not run for any officer position due to conflicting schedules and work load on students.
5. Members of God’s Bods student organization who apply and are accepted into the job position of student assistant to the director of the campus center should not run for an officer position. In this way, the assistant to the director can serve the needs of the director and the campus center without feeling conflicted to their time and duties as an officer.
G. Officer Removal
An officer can be removed from his or her position if he or she meet any of the following criteria:
1. A majority vote of the officers.
2. More than five absences in the semester from Mass, Officer Meetings, and Wednesday night God’s bods Events.
3. A grade point average below 2.0
H. Vacancies
Any vacancy that may occur in an office shall be filled by appointment by the remaining officers.
I. Election/Voting Process
Nominations for officers will take place at the end of the spring semester. Nominations will be a paragraph in length and submitted via e-mail or in person to the current Student Organization president. A ballot box will then be placed at the center to collect ballots. Announcements of officers will take place at the time designated after nominations take place (generally allowing two weeks for both nominations and the voting process after Mass and God’s Bods events). To place a ballot, the member placing the ballot must be active in at least one project at the Center, or a frequent Mass attendee.
J. Decision-making Process
The director and student president will gather with the Keyholders to make long-term decisions at monthly meetings. Majority in favor or opposed to each item will determine outcome. Because the CCC at WU is operated by a salaried administrator, in the instance when a decision must be made immediately, the director. Other decisions are out of our control and will be made by the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas (i.e., budget).
Quorum: Three (including the director/chaplain)
Proxy: Any officer who is excused from a meeting has the right to communicate his/her vote on a particular issue to another student officer or the director and his/her vote will be counted.
K. Faculty Advisor
The faculty advisor is selected by the student officers each fall. The advisor commits to a one year term, and can repeat as many terms as he/she chooses if requested by the student officers.
Current Faculty Advisor: Paul Wagner, PhD, Professor of Biology
L. Meeting Guidelines
The activity schedule for the Catholic Campus Center - God's Bods is established during the planning period before the fall and spring semesters. Additions and changes to the schedule to better suit students’ needs may be made throughout the semesters. Schedules are generally publicized on campus, online, around the facility at 1633 SW Jewell, in church bulletins and in public areas. Public service announcements are also broadcasted onto local radio. Student members who choose to be included on the mailing list will receive updates via e-mail and Facebook. A mandatory officers meeting will take place once a month with the director on a set schedule (i.e., first Wednesday of the Month at 6 pm) with weekly meetings at the discretion of the student president. A general meeting with members and all officers will take place to discuss activities and concerns as well as ideas, and to set up committees with the members.
M. Method of Amending the Constitution
Amendments and changes to the constitution may be made at the discretion of the officers with the approval of the campus center director, chaplain and faculty advisor approval. This change takes place at the regularly scheduled officer planning meetings. Proposed items will be included in the meeting agenda. A simple vote will take place on whether to amend the changes to the document. Majority vote will determine the outcome.
